Mrs Prince

This poem was written about our school secretary in Charlton Mackrell School and was first published by MacMillan. I hope you like it at Wells Cathedral School where I am lucky enough to be meeting Year 6 on Thursday for a book talk.

Mrs Prince

Mrs. Prince, from the office, is so kind,
Taking an interest in our scabs. She doesn’t mind
Blood, or bits of skin gone green.
Tenderly, she smoothes on cream.
Mrs. Prince says, ‘Shall I ring up Mum or Dad?
I think that cut looks very bad.’
She has a tin of toffees in her drawer.

That’s what we fall over for.
